(Wallen Ray)

Every day I bend down to pet my fur baby, Wallen. Before I bend, my foot is flat on the ground and my knee is in extension. As I bend down to pet him, my knee goes into flexion then back into extension as I stand up. This motion is in the sagittal plane, frontal axis. The osteokinematics of flexion and extension is a closed kinematic chain. As far as arthrokinematics, the femur that is moving is the convex segment that rolls anterior and glides posterior on the concave of the tibia plateau. The prime mover for knee flexion is the hamstrings. This is an eccentric contraction.
